An environmentally cautious company, we're continuously taking steps forward through green initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing processes and business operations.

Company Initiatives

• Office Recycling Program - all paper, plastics and glass is recycled.
• Invoices are emailed whenever possible and we encourage suppliers to email their invoices to us. Direct deposit payments are made where and when possible.
• Encourage employees to use environmentally friendly practices at home.
• Recycle all computer equipment and batteries at certified recycling centres.
• Materials collected by receiving department are reused for shipping products in our shipping department.
• All but one exterior building light is shut off during non-operation hours.
• Less than 5% wood waste. All cutoffs and waste pieces are sent to a local MDF manufacturer for use in their product.

Green Products
Many of our products can be supplied with green attributes such as:

• FSC certified material.
• Post-consumer recycled material.
• Low V.O.C finishes.

What we're working on

FSC Certification
Black Loon is currently preparing for FSC Chain of Custody Certification and hope to be fully certified in 2011.

Tree Planting
As a consumer of forest resources we are taking the initiative to replant everything we take from the earth to help ensure future generations will have healthy forests and healthy futures.

Product Lifecycle Program
Since many of Black Loon's products can last a lifetime or more we are currently developing a product lifecycle program to ensure our products never end up in a landfill. Consumers will be able to ship the product back to us where it can be refinished, recycled and reused in another product or installation.
